Students facing significant reading barriers, such as a visual impairment or a physical or severe learning disability, need accessible educational materials. Bookshare (www.bookshare.org, a Benetech initiative), is a key source of accessible materials and is free for all qualified U.S. students. STEM materials, which rely heavily on graphics and math, are the most difficult to make accessible, but several Benetech initiatives are successfully addressing this challenge.
